Music, Mental Health & Community: Iguality x Beats for Relief at Convent Sant Agustí

On Friday, July 18, 2025, the historic halls of Convent Sant Agustí in El Born came alive with music, conversation, and connection. Together, Iguality and Beats for Relief welcomed the community for a special night dedicated to celebrating the power of music and its deep ties to mental health.

The event, held in the beautiful Sala Noble, drew volunteers, locals, expats, and friends alike — all gathering under one roof to share in an evening of live performance and solidarity with Iguality’s mission: providing free mental health care to communities at risk of social exclusion in Barcelona and beyond.

A Night of Music and Meaning

The night opened with a warm welcome from the Iguality team, who shared reflections on the vital connection between creativity and emotional wellbeing. By placing music at the heart of the evening, the event highlighted not only the talent of local artists but also the healing power of community.

The program featured three distinctive artists, each bringing their own story and sound to the stage:

  • Tia Einarsen — A Chicago-born singer-songwriter whose music blends raw honesty and heartfelt lyrics. Having performed in legendary U.S. venues such as Schuba’s and the Double Door, Tia now calls Barcelona home, channeling her personal journey into songs that resonate with intimacy and authenticity.

  • ROMM — A rising R&B/pop artist from the UK, now based in Barcelona. Influenced by Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, RAYE, and Amy Winehouse, ROMM’s set captivated the audience with soulful vocals and emotionally rich storytelling. Her performance stood out as a highlight of the evening, showcasing the powerful role of young, emerging voices in the city’s music scene.

  • Josh Parker — A British singer-songwriter from Hebden Bridge, Josh brought a unique blend of folk, jazz, and blues, performed with a raspy voice and a raw, vulnerable style. His songs carried both tradition and innovation, reflecting his roots while connecting deeply with the Barcelona audience.

Beyond the Stage

What set this evening apart wasn’t just the music, but the spirit of community and purpose that infused every moment. Attendees weren’t just concert-goers; they were participants in a movement — one that sees music as a catalyst for connection, wellbeing, and inclusion.

After the performances, the crowd moved on together to a nearby bar, extending the night with laughter, conversation, and newfound friendships. It was a reminder that music doesn’t end with the last note; it creates ripples of connection long after.

Why It Matters

For Iguality, this event was another step in building awareness and support for their mission: offering free, accessible mental health services to those most in need. For Beats for Relief, it was an opportunity to carry forward its vision of uniting people through music while driving social impact.

Together, they showed what’s possible when art, advocacy, and community meet: an evening that lifted spirits, sparked dialogue, and strengthened bonds across Barcelona’s diverse cultural landscape.

Looking Ahead

The Iguality Community Nights are more than concerts — they are gatherings that weave together people, purpose, and passion. With each event, more voices are heard, more stories are shared, and more people feel seen and supported.

Stay tuned for the next edition, and join us in celebrating the belief that music and community can change lives.
