Spring Awakening: Moodbody Class + Healthy Brunch

On May 11, 2024, Barcelona’s Gràcia neighborhood came alive with a different kind of Saturday ritual. As part of the Spring Awakening Series for Mental Health Awareness Month, Beats for Relief hosted a morning of movement and nourishment at Moodbody Studio, followed by a healthy brunch curated by Sabio Infante.

The Class: Movement with Meaning

The session began with 15 minutes of cardio to elevate energy and clear the mind, followed by 30 minutes of strength training to ground participants in their bodies. Guided by expert instructors, the class was more than a workout — it was an invitation to tune into the body’s wisdom, to push limits while practicing kindness to oneself.

As sunlight streamed through the studio’s windows, participants moved in sync, breathing together, sweating together, and slowly building not just physical strength but also collective energy.

The Brunch: Connection Through Food

After class, the group transitioned into a communal brunch. Known for its inventive takes on wholesome cuisine, Sabio Infante delivered a menu that was both nourishing and indulgent. Over bowls of vibrant salads, artisan pastries, and freshly brewed coffee, conversation flowed easily.

Laughter filled the room as strangers became companions, and the brunch tables turned into circles of connection.

Why It Mattered

The event wasn’t just about fitness or food — it was about mental health. Ticket proceeds supported Iguality, a Barcelona-based NGO dedicated to increasing accessibility to mental healthcare. By joining, participants cared not only for themselves but also for their community.

This event was a powerful reminder that when we care for our bodies and connect with others, we strengthen the collective fight for mental well-being.
