Frescoboys Headline the First Beats for Relief x Front Page News Show

Barcelona runs on rhythm. From narrow alleys echoing late-night jam sessions to rooftops that turn into dance floors after dark, there’s never a shortage of sound. But behind that pulse lies a quieter truth — too many great musicians are still hustling for exposure instead of fair pay.

That’s where Front Page News comes in. The project was born out of equal parts frustration and love for live music. Its founder — a longtime digital strategist — realized she’d helped big brands make millions, yet the artists she admired were still playing for free drinks and “good vibes.” So she decided to flip the script.

Front Page News started as a small idea: create shows that actually value musicians. Find a proper venue with solid sound, build a visual world around it, and make sure every artist walks away paid — and seen. What began as a local passion project has turned into a movement redefining what a night out can feel like.

And this November, Beats for Relief is stepping into that movement.

On Tuesday, November 12, Beats joins forces with Front Page News for the first time to present a night dedicated to real music and real connection at Velvet Room Barcelona — with Frescoboys headlining.

A Shared Vision

The partnership happened naturally. Beats for Relief was built on the idea that art can move more than just a crowd — it can move people toward something greater. From small bars to hotel rooftops, Beats has built a name curating live shows that bring together artists, audiences, and causes in one space.

Front Page News shares that same energy — a belief that the city’s independent scene deserves better stages and brighter lights. Together, both platforms aim to carve out a space for musicians who put everything into their craft and deserve to be heard on their own terms.

For the first edition, the plan is simple: no gimmicks, no filler — just a full-blown live experience that blends sound, visuals, and soul. Expect three acts, projection-mapped visuals from VJ Baby K, and a lineup that proves live music in Barcelona is alive and thriving.

Meet Frescoboys

If you’ve ever seen Frescoboys perform, you know what it means when a band owns a stage. In just two years, the Brazilian group has played more than 110 shows, taking over iconic venues like Araújo Vianna, Opinião, and Casa de Cultura Mário Quintana.

Their sound blends funk, rock, groove, and a contagious energy that fills the room before the first chorus hits. They’ve collaborated with major names from Brazil’s music scene — including Tonho Crocco, Dingo, TEM, and Paola Kirst — and built a following that crosses languages and borders.

Now based partly in Barcelona, Frescoboys are bringing that South-American heat to the Velvet Room stage. Their performances are more than shows; they’re celebrations. Each song feels like a spark that spreads — the kind of moment that reminds you why nothing beats live music.

“When we play, we’re trying to create connection,” says the band. “Music should make you feel part of something, even if just for one night.”

And that’s exactly the spirit this event is built on.

Why It Matters

It’s easy to forget that behind every local band or singer-songwriter, there’s a whole world of commitment — rehearsals after work, borrowed instruments, gigs that barely cover transport. But every thriving music city depends on these artists. They’re the ones giving Barcelona its sound, one show at a time.

By paying musicians fairly and spotlighting them with professional production, Front Page News and Beats for Relief are proving that supporting the arts isn’t charity — it’s culture. Every ticket sold makes it possible to host more shows, feature more artists, and build a stronger creative ecosystem where live performance can actually sustain itself.

This first joint event isn’t about grand statements or hashtags. It’s about showing up. It’s about giving the city’s artists a stage worthy of their talent and giving audiences the kind of night that can only happen when the music is real and the room is alive.
